Today, I rushed home to get into my safe place. Just to relax and clear my mind of the muckity- muck that goes on around me. When I arrived home, I first thanked God that I made it home safely. Then I opened one of my inspirational books and immediately came to a passage saying “some little girl, some woman on the street needs to know that you survived what she is going through right now.” That hit me right in the heart of my soul. So if you are out there little hurting girls and hurting women, I am here to tell you there is survival at the end of your story. Where you are is not the end of your journey. I know you do not feel that there is a way out, but trust me when I say there is always a way out. I have survived so much heart ache when I was a little girl and so much abuse as an older woman. .. Abuse in relationships, as well as emotional abuse in my work life (tons). .. I lost my only child while she was just an infant and I almost lost my life during this tragic time. Looking back over my struggles, I remember not being able to see God in anything or anyone, but today I can truly say I am stronger, wiser than I have ever been.
Of course I still have my days that I want to crawl in the corner and just eat any and everything (my vice) or just do nothing. And yes, I do this at times, but the thing is, I always get back up. Always! That’s the key. Once you get hit with a bunch of negative crap and bad mojo. You have to mourn for a while, feel it , but don’t stay there.. get back up. Survival does not mean everything will be fine all the time, but it means once you get through this struggle you can get through anything. Don’t loose hope in your struggle. Show your struggle you are filled with HOPE.
I always advise everyone to seek mental health counseling if you can afford it or talk with a trusted friend. Yes, prayer works, but sometimes we need Jesus and counseling. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
God will make the way of escape, that [we] may be able to bear it. —1 Corinthians 10:13
