I arrived home last night with this uneasy pain in my back. Earlier in the week I have also experienced pain in other areas of my body. Through this pain, I have continued to do everything that we do daily in our everyday lives. …except one important thing… I have forgotten to take care of me! After a brief trip to the doctor I discovered my blood pressure was extremely high and after a test the doctor informed me that it looks as though I have had a heart attack in the past. I became silent and just looked at the wall in front of me. I could hear her speaking but the confirmation of this shook me. I remember when this attack happened. I was under the abuse of so many people at the time. My spirit broke.. My soul broke….And my heart broke (literally) After coming back to myself, I talked things over with the doctor and in the end…she hugged me .... Yep that was a different reaction from a doctor. .. I told about the abuse I had been experiencing over the years and her first reaction was to hug me. That was so refreshing. Isn’t that wonderful?? We need more women doctors for sure. But I digress… My goal now is to find a way to take care of myself. Honestly, I have never considered myself as someone who must be taken care of.. Crazy right? I believe most of us find taking care of and putting others first is more important than taking care of ourselves.
The simple truth is ..how can we help others when we are in bad shape ourselves. This depletes our energy source so we can’t give and support like we should. So I am trying a little each day to move more….to love myself more…and to just care for me more..
Join me on this journey. Together we can do this!
We are worth it.
